Accessing Us

Our clients are able to access our services through a variety of ways.

Medicare

The Australian Government has introduced new Medicare items for psychological treatment by Registered Psychologists. This means there is now a Medicare rebate available for appointments with Psychologists.

To access Psychology treatment under Medicare, you need to visit your regular GP who will assess your condition and formulate a treatment plan if appropriate. As part of this plan your doctor may refer you for up to 12 sessions with a Medicare Accredited Psychologist for specialist assessment and psychological treatment. Your doctor will review your progress over this time and receive reports from your Psychologist regarding your treatment, progress and recommendations for future management of your mental health.

Paediatricians and Psychiatrists can also make referrals under the Medicare scheme. Discuss this option with your GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist.

Private Client

You may contact our service to make an appointment, without a referral, as a private client.

Private Health Fund

Some private health funds pay rebates for psychological services. For rebates to be payable from some of these funds, clients may be required to provide the following items: a referral from your GP to the Psychologist; the Psychologist's provider number for the specific health fund; and a stamped receipt from the Psychologist.

We suggest that clients check with their health fund about their eligibility requirements before making an appointment.

Workers Compensation

To access our services through Workers Compensation a written referral is normally made to us via your nominated treating Doctor or a WorkCover accreditation rehabilitation provider who has been assigned to manage your case. Once we have received your referral a request for treatment will be forwarded to the Insurance Company meeting the costs of your Workers Compensation claim. A claim number and formal approval from your insurance company must be received in writing prior to commencement of your first session.

Victims of Crime

Victims Services is part of the Attorney General's Department of NSW which helps victims of crime in New South Wales access services and entitlements to assist in their recovery. Their Approved Counselling Scheme provides free face to face counselling to victims of violent crimes that have occurred in New South Wales. Some of the members of our team are approved through Victims Services to carry out this counselling.
